Trooping the Colour is the name of the parade to mark the Sovereigns Birthday, which is a tradition that was started by Kind George III in 1760. The only time that this tradition was not upheld was during the war years and in 1955 when a national rail strike forced the event to be cancelled.

If you are lucky enough to secure a place outside the palace you will be able to see the members of Royal Family wave at the adoring well wishers outside.
To view the Trooping of the Colour in London you can see the events take place from the Mall, but arrive very early as the event starts at around 10am with the fly by at around 1pm. There will be some seated stands at Horse Guard Parade which will be really the best seats to view the Trooping of the Colour '11 in London.
